Jiayou Legacy!

Monday, September 8, 2014 ;

So... Yep! As seen in the photos above, I'm in Legacy All Stars Cheerleading team right now and I'm really thankful that I've decided to join this team. :-)

I know... I'm not consistent enough to be staying in just one cheer team for long, because I've left Gusto to join Kosmos (CHC cheerleading ministry) and now I'm in Legacy. I sincerely hope that Legacy will be the one cheer team that I'll be staying at for as long as I can..

Where shall I start....?

Why I left Gusto:

There were several reasons why I left Gusto, the main reason was probably the fact that I don't feel like family with the people in the team at all despite being with them for more than a year. I couldn't easily talk to just anyone and joke around like close friends. In fact, I didn't even have anybody close enough to talk to comfortably except for Sedryn, Ying Chui and Angela, who eventually left the team before I did. Another contributing factor was how I broke my ankle, took 4 months+ to recover and returning to the team feeling like a freshie all over again. (I didn't have the chance to perform for SP Open House 2013 because of my ankle too T_T) Most of the flyers were already practicing their full ups scorpions blahlahblah and I was still struggling with getting a straight up liberty and heel stretch. I couldn't even get my partner stunts' liberty right! Needless to say cupie and other elements. I had a pretty hard time trying to catch up with the rest and I just felt that I wasn't cut out for cheerleading with all those continuous falls from stunts. And with all those factors, I decided that I should leave Gusto(they probably didn't even need me too T_T) and take a rest from cheerleading.

Coincidentally, I found out that CHC actually has a cheerleading ministry!! I decided to thickskinned-ly write in to ask if they were recruiting and if I could join.. I wasn't expecting much initially but to my surprise, Jeremy replied my email!!! Despite it being a few weeks later. We continued with exchanging some information and contact and I eventually went for my first training at Jurong West! :-D

Kosmos:

It was a totally different cheer environment during my first training with Kosmos. New people, new bases, new flyers. I was totally overwhelmed at how everyone welcomed me! All of them were very friendly towards a newcomer like me! :-D I still remember Michelle was the most friendliest flyer who tried to keep the conversation between us going and Serene trying to crack jokes with me hahahahaha. It was such a warm atmosphere and I feel really welcomed. :-)

I had my very first performance with Kosmos for the children church in October 2013! Although we were just doing simple stunts, I feel really thankful to be able to serve in this unique ministry together with a bunch of really nice people! :-)

Time passed really quickly while I was in Kosmos, I've already been training with them for more than a year!! It has been a really fruitful and wonderful journey with Kosmos, doing performances, going out together and serving God together!

 My greatest and most memorable moment would be doing up a performance during Emerge Night for the church! We cracked our brains trying to think of stunts that we could do that have the "wow factor" to impress the pastors, trained almost everyday for our routine and I'm really glad our efforts paid off! That very moment when Pastor Kong stood up and applauded non-stop when we ended our performance was just...... INDESCRIBABLE!!!! It almost felt like winning 1st place in a competition! The sweat and hard work we put in to get all our stunts up for this performance totally paid off! The happiness within us was so overwhelming! Thank you Pastor for giving us the chance to contribute to the church and I pray that Kosmos will be able to do a lot more than what we can now to shine for the glory of God! :-)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd never thought I'd be joining yet another competitive cheer team again until one day when I was talking to Jerry. He was telling me that he has been training at Legacy and I casually asked if I could follow him there and so I did! It was, yet, another new environment again.. The people there were pretty friendly.. And I met Kai Lun! She came and talk to me and I found out that she was once from Kosmos too! And that became our common topic and I'm glad I had someone to talk to during training and felt more comfortable thereafter. Shabeer was the very first base who stunted with me and he commented that it was very hard to toss me HAHAHA :-(

I continued to turn up for training at Scape with Legacy and I decided that I should really start picking myself up and seek to improve myself more and more! I don't want to limit myself to be only doing performances, I want to achieve much more than what I can achieve. I want to be competing on the blue mats one day, like any other cheerleaders. With that, I decided to join Legacy. :-)

The past few months with Legacy has been pretty smooth, I really feel that I learned a lot from the seniors there. I'm really thankful for the bases and flyers there who have been helping me and sincerely want to help me improve. :-) I was extremely touched when Larry and Marcus said "Stunt with Wan Yee more, so she can have more chance and time to improve". Thank you Larry and Marcus, I couldn't feel more thankful to them for helping and giving me the chance to improve despite how hard it was to stunt with me.

(Oh! That session was also when Terence came down to Legacy and he commented that I lost weight. I was secretly screaming in joy inside HAHA)

And this sums up my cheerleading journey so far.. I will continue to work hard and achieve my goals in cheerleading, I really will! JIAYOU CHEONG WAN YEE! Don't disappoint the people who have great hopes in you! :-)

Decided to revive this space after so long!

I totally have no idea where to start blogging about again but I guess I shall start with my very blessed 19th birthday! :)

Marvin was the first person who celebrated my birthday with me this year, even though he remembered my birthday as 6th September instead of the actual 16th September. He sent a really really long text to me and I was really thankful for such a friend like him! So he booked me on a Saturday just right before church service and we had lunch at Pique Nique, the iron waffles were really yummy!! Thank you for the birthday lunch!! :')

Next was a birthday dinner from Javier together with some cg members at Koh Grill and Sushi bar. Finally tried their legendary shiok maki and it was really shiok!! Soooo blessed and thankful to be fed with such yummy food! Thank you Javier!

Oh! Just right before service, Jovan asked me to call him once I reached church and to my surprise, he brought along a birthday helium balloon!! Wow, this guy really fulfilled his promise of getting me a helium balloon on my birthday just because I tweeted about it. So grateful for him and his promise! :')

Had a birthday lunch with my family at Yum Cha on Sunday before training! Kosmos also celebrated my birthday during one of the Sunday trainings!

Can't express how thankful I am to be able to cheer lead as part of Kosmos. Barely knowing them, they made the effort to get the cake, gifts and get everyone to write birthday wishes for me! Making the decision to join Kosmos is one of the best decisions I've made in 2013. :')

Went back home that Sunday night and got a text from Nigel saying that he had some urgent matters and wanted someone to talk to.. He told me he was below my house and I went downstairs to look for him.

The first thing I saw when I went downstairs was him trying to light up the candle on a slice of cake! It turned out that he wanted to gave me a surprise at 12AM sharp!! Wow.. What a sweet surprise! Despite him failing to light up the candle and I had to go back up to get a lighter for him to light up my birthday cake HAHAHAHA. So we sat at the playground and chatted for hours.

The following day was my actual birthday; 16th September. The day I'd been looking forward to ever since my last birthday HAHA but yet I don't really want it to come because I would have to wait for another year to feel special again..

Met up with Brian and Andy to have lunch at Marche as requested by me (hehehe), followed by some desserts at St. Marc! Thank you Brian and Andy for taking time off to spend time with me on my birthday! :)

I went off to meet the zoo clique at Raffles City's Buffet Town for dinner after that, as requested by me as well hehehe. I was quite disappointed to hear that Jean and Pui Yee won't be turning up for this dinner but the first two faces I saw when I reached Buffet Town were their faces!! Like WOW!! I was sooooo relieved and happy!! Jocelyn came over and gave me a rose and they wished me happy birthday. :D Food at Buffet Town was really good!! They have a really wide variety of food choices!!

Coincidentally, Nicholas was there at Buffet Town too!! We chatted a little and we went off to take group photos and #ootd photos at one corner. We went our separate ways back home after that..

A few moments after I reached home, Jean gave me a call and asked me to open my door.

OH MY GOD they were outside standing with my birthday cupcakes!!!!! WHOAAAAA. So much love and surprise!!

They were my long-wanted cupcakes from Missgoob!! Thank you girls for fulfilling yet another birthday wish of mine! :) Sorry to have made you all spend so much money on me. :( I appreciate all the efforts you girls have put in to make my birthday surprise a successful one! :)

Back at home, Mum bought me cupcakes too!! So much love from everyone!! Knowing that I love cupcakes.. :')

Two days later, 18th September, Ying Chui asked me out to go shopping together. She came over to my workplace and waited for me to knock off. Later, she said she needs to go to the toilet and a few minutes later, a group of voices went "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Wan Yee, happy birthday to you!". IT WAS MY DEAR CLASSMATES, MY BURDEN FAMILY!! I totally did not expect them to give me a surprise there!! They came in with colourful helium ballons, a sweet little strawberry shortcake and a gift!!Totally did not expect that they would celebrate my birthday because everyone was so busy working during the holidays..

Thank you my dear burden family for your efforts to plan this surprise despite how busy you girls are, thank you for making me feel special even though my birthday was already over. :')

This year's 19th birthday was truly an extremely blessed one! I thank God for all the people mentioned above and I thank God for the past 19 years. :)

Tuesday, January 1, 2013 ;

Sooooo 2012 has ended and we're living in 2013 right now. I've got so much thoughts in me and I decided that I should pen them down here.

Let's talk about January. I managed to find a job at Manhattan Fish Market with Wardina and Kai Qi and met many new and friendly colleagues there! It was really a great working experience whilst meeting new people and I'm glad we're still keeping in contact. Well, not all of them but at least two or three of them.

February is a month of love cos of Valentine's Day. It wasn't anything special and I spent it with my colleagues at work. One more thing! Can't remember if I reconciled with Jocelyn in January or Februry, it was something I thought it will never ever happen. But by the grace of God, He made the impossible possible! And with that, I'm back with the zoo clique and I believe they'll be the ones who will go through thick and thin with me for the rest of my life. Thank You Jesus for them!

March was fruitfully spent, went on many outings with the zoo clique as well as with the rest. We even visited USS together!

My poly life unfolded in the mid of April. Everything went on smoothly and I was able to adapt to the new environment along with new classmates pretty quickly. Grateful for such wonderful classmates!

May just another other May in the calendar, having been busy with school work, projects, reports and CCA. Oh! I joined cheer leading as a CCA! Something that I've never thought I would be joining. And I injured my wrist during training too.

Visited Hong Kong in June and had a great time with my relatives over there. Was a good trip with my relatives.

July was July.

Here comes the tough month August. Have been busy with exams and everything. So thankful that everything is over and I obtained a GPA of 3.417. Not really sure if that's considered good or bad but wanna thank God for that still!

Favourite month of the year September! Spent my birthday with the zoo clique! And with that, I'm 18 years old from 16th September 2012 onwards. Pretty excited to be able to consume alcohol and all.

Surprised my mum for her birthday in October. It didn't turn out as what I expected but it was pretty okay!

Back to school in November and started semester 2. All the projects and reports are slowly coming in too.

The long awaited 3 weeks holidays are here in December. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy it to the fullest because I injured my left ankle on the first day of the holiay and it ended up as a fracture and I have to have it casted for at least 6-8 weeks. Well, a lesson learned. However, by the grace and mercy of God, I need not go for a surgery!

Wanna thank God for a pleasant 2012! And of all the things I went through in 2012, I'm so thankful and glad that I'm still in E523 and in contact with God despite having distanced away from God during that period of time when I attended training instead of going for services on Saturday/Sunday. God did not forsake me still! Learned many life lessons from many different people along the way as well! Also very grateful that I grew closer with my cg members as well!

Well, my new year resolutions are pretty much the same as the last few years.

I want to have a bigger heart and accept people for who they are. I want to grow closer to God and serve a ministry in CHC! I want to eat heathily and exercise more than I eat to keep fit. Last thing is to excel in studies and in my CCA.

With all the above, I shall say goodbye to 2012 and welcome 2013 with open arms and a wide smile. :) May 2013 be a wonderful and better year with God and everyone! Looking forward to spend 2013 with all the people I love!

Oh, one last thing. I think I might be having a crush. Shall see what are God's plans for me!

Thursday, December 13, 2012 ;

Sigh sprained my ankle and had to spend my first week of holidays in bed, unable to go for trainings and performance for open house. God, I pray for recovery.
