Its really upset when you see someone so dejected in spirit and you can't do much to help them.
All I could do is to ask them to cheer up and nothing else, cos I know I'm not good with words and sometimes I'd say the wrong thing and misunderstandings befalls.
I am sorry to hear of your predicament and I'm sorry I can't help much.
