So... Yep! As seen in the photos above, I'm in Legacy All Stars Cheerleading team right now and I'm really thankful that I've decided to join this team. :-)
I know... I'm not consistent enough to be staying in just one cheer team for long, because I've left Gusto to join Kosmos (CHC cheerleading ministry) and now I'm in Legacy. I sincerely hope that Legacy will be the one cheer team that I'll be staying at for as long as I can..
Where shall I start....?
Why I left Gusto:
There were several reasons why I left Gusto, the main reason was probably the fact that I don't feel like family with the people in the team at all despite being with them for more than a year. I couldn't easily talk to just anyone and joke around like close friends. In fact, I didn't even have anybody close enough to talk to comfortably except for Sedryn, Ying Chui and Angela, who eventually left the team before I did. Another contributing factor was how I broke my ankle, took 4 months+ to recover and returning to the team feeling like a freshie all over again. (I didn't have the chance to perform for SP Open House 2013 because of my ankle too T_T) Most of the flyers were already practicing their full ups scorpions blahlahblah and I was still struggling with getting a straight up liberty and heel stretch. I couldn't even get my partner stunts' liberty right! Needless to say cupie and other elements. I had a pretty hard time trying to catch up with the rest and I just felt that I wasn't cut out for cheerleading with all those continuous falls from stunts. And with all those factors, I decided that I should leave Gusto(they probably didn't even need me too T_T) and take a rest from cheerleading.
Coincidentally, I found out that CHC actually has a cheerleading ministry!! I decided to thickskinned-ly write in to ask if they were recruiting and if I could join.. I wasn't expecting much initially but to my surprise, Jeremy replied my email!!! Despite it being a few weeks later. We continued with exchanging some information and contact and I eventually went for my first training at Jurong West! :-D
Kosmos:
It was a totally different cheer environment during my first training with Kosmos. New people, new bases, new flyers. I was totally overwhelmed at how everyone welcomed me! All of them were very friendly towards a newcomer like me! :-D I still remember Michelle was the most friendliest flyer who tried to keep the conversation between us going and Serene trying to crack jokes with me hahahahaha. It was such a warm atmosphere and I feel really welcomed. :-)
I had my very first performance with Kosmos for the children church in October 2013! Although we were just doing simple stunts, I feel really thankful to be able to serve in this unique ministry together with a bunch of really nice people! :-)
Time passed really quickly while I was in Kosmos, I've already been training with them for more than a year!! It has been a really fruitful and wonderful journey with Kosmos, doing performances, going out together and serving God together!
My greatest and most memorable moment would be doing up a performance during Emerge Night for the church! We cracked our brains trying to think of stunts that we could do that have the "wow factor" to impress the pastors, trained almost everyday for our routine and I'm really glad our efforts paid off! That very moment when Pastor Kong stood up and applauded non-stop when we ended our performance was just...... INDESCRIBABLE!!!! It almost felt like winning 1st place in a competition! The sweat and hard work we put in to get all our stunts up for this performance totally paid off! The happiness within us was so overwhelming! Thank you Pastor for giving us the chance to contribute to the church and I pray that Kosmos will be able to do a lot more than what we can now to shine for the glory of God! :-)

I'd never thought I'd be joining yet another competitive cheer team again until one day when I was talking to Jerry. He was telling me that he has been training at Legacy and I casually asked if I could follow him there and so I did! It was, yet, another new environment again.. The people there were pretty friendly.. And I met Kai Lun! She came and talk to me and I found out that she was once from Kosmos too! And that became our common topic and I'm glad I had someone to talk to during training and felt more comfortable thereafter. Shabeer was the very first base who stunted with me and he commented that it was very hard to toss me HAHAHA :-(
I continued to turn up for training at Scape with Legacy and I decided that I should really start picking myself up and seek to improve myself more and more! I don't want to limit myself to be only doing performances, I want to achieve much more than what I can achieve. I want to be competing on the blue mats one day, like any other cheerleaders. With that, I decided to join Legacy. :-)
The past few months with Legacy has been pretty smooth, I really feel that I learned a lot from the seniors there. I'm really thankful for the bases and flyers there who have been helping me and sincerely want to help me improve. :-) I was extremely touched when Larry and Marcus said "Stunt with Wan Yee more, so she can have more chance and time to improve". Thank you Larry and Marcus, I couldn't feel more thankful to them for helping and giving me the chance to improve despite how hard it was to stunt with me.
(Oh! That session was also when Terence came down to Legacy and he commented that I lost weight. I was secretly screaming in joy inside HAHA)
And this sums up my cheerleading journey so far.. I will continue to work hard and achieve my goals in cheerleading, I really will! JIAYOU CHEONG WAN YEE! Don't disappoint the people who have great hopes in you! :-)
